Funny And Honest Quotes About Parenthood From Dana Carvey - HuffPost

cucun.indah.link

Many celebrities, politicians and other people in the spotlight have decided to take a step back to “spend more time with family.” But Dana Carvey actually stuck to that commitment.

The comedian and his wife, Paula Zwagerman, have two grown sons ― Dex and Thomas. When they were children, he pivoted from film and television to corporate standup to be a more hands-on dad at home ― and never looked back.

In honor of his birthday, we’ve rounded up eight quotes about fatherhood from Carvey.

On Parenting Multiple Children

“Two kids is more than two. You have to think about it algebraically. If you have one and he’s napping, you’re fine. But when one’s napping and the other one needs constant stimulation, that’s rough. There’s so much genetics involved, and each kid could use a different dad at different times. One kid is OK with a laid-back dad, another one needs a stronger hand. It’s an art not a science. It’s impossible. All you can do is forgive yourself and not be deliberately cruel to them.”

On Raising Funny Kids

“I just adore them and the way they think, and I love hanging out with them. My favorite thing in life is when I see them land a new joke and get excited. That’s so much fun to watch!”

On What It’s Like To Have Children

“You want to know what it’s like to have kids? The workload? Adopt a 100-year-old man who needs 24-hour nursing care. And then find out, ‘Gee my life’s really changed!’ Imagine that saying, ‘Wipe my ass, put on cartoons! You better apply cream, I might get a rash. Guess what, I didn’t like what you made me for breakfast, I threw it on the floor! You better feed me, I might get cranky! I had a bad dream, I want to sleep in your bed! I like to stretch out. Guess what, it’s naked time!’”

On Trying To Balance Work And Family

“The kids were little and they were a lot of work. I did do a movie in Canada when my kids were really little, and we didn’t have a nanny or anything. I’d work all night with Nicolas Cage and Jon Lovitz, go to bed at 6 a.m. and get up around 10 a.m. My (younger) son was sick and my wife was exhausted. I’d play with my (older) son for five or six hours in the basement. … It was really hard to manage doing movies without nannies. We had a lot of emergency-room ear infections.”

On Stepping Back From Show Business

“I moved up to Marin County — my wife wanted to raise the kids near her mom and sister, no nannies. … Corporate stand-up allowed me to make my own schedule and make money as if I was in show business. … Over the years I was offered different daytime talk shows and tons of game shows. ‘Hollywood Squares,’ you name it. But at that point, with the kids in their formative years, I was happy to do what I was doing. ... I was away from my kids when they were 6, 7, 8, and I really didn’t like that.”

On Kids In Toy Stores

“They’re like ‘I don’t have that one; I’ve got Megator! That’s Megati! You can tell cause the index finger is crooked slightly differently. Megator, Megati, Megaty, Megatoo. Every time I click it’s $9.95 to you. Now, buy me that useless piece of plastic or I think I feel a tantrum coming on.’”

On Priorities

“The best thing about family is that you have things you care about more than show business. You don’t take it that seriously once you have a wife and children. I see them every day.”

On Parenting Toddlers

They are energy absorbers at that age. I’d come through the door, and it’s like ‘somebody threw up.’ ‘OK …’ I have single friends with no kids. I always ask them, ‘What do you worry about?’ Because no one’s going to get hurt or go to the ER. And they just giggle.”

Fans all made the same joke after Georgia landed pair of 5-star transfers - Saturday Down South

cucun.indah.link

Adam Spencer | 6 hours ago

The Georgia Bulldogs had themselves a great Tuesday afternoon, landing 2 former 5-star recruits in ex-Clemson CB Derion Kendrick and ex-LSU TE Arik Gilbert.

If both players end up being eligible for the 2021 season, it adds to Georgia’s incredible depth, giving the Dawgs even more star power.

However, after landing both of those elite players within half an hour of each other, fans had some questions.

As you can see below, fans flocked to Twitter to make jokes about Georgia and coach Kirby Smart paying for both players’ commitments. The term “bag man” was mentioned quite a bit:

Will Gilbert and Kendrick help the Bulldogs win the title this fall? The pressure is on.

Eric Adams calls mayoral rival Andrew Yang's campaign a 'joke' - New York Post

cucun.indah.link

The two leading New York City mayoral candidates got down and dirty Tuesday, hurling personal insults at one another with just 21 days until the June 22 primary.

Eric Adams called rival Andrew Yang’s campaign a “joke” and said Yang should drop out of the race — prompting the entrepreneur and 2020 presidential candidate to fire back by calling the ex-cop Brooklyn borough president “business as usual.”

“Why’s he still in the race?” Adams wondered aloud at a press conference.

“It’s a joke, and it’s not funny anymore. I think that these are serious issues that we are facing and we are looking at,” Adams added.

“This is not a game. New York doesn’t need a cheerleader. They need a leader.”

Adams also dismissed Yang’s view that much of the criticism of him not being a true New Yorker is driven by anti-Asian sentiment.

“He must understand that New Yorkers are saying, ‘Why didn’t you participate in any of the municipal elections? Why did you flee this city during our darkest hour?'” Adams said, referring to Yang moving his family to upstate New Paltz during much of the pandemic.

“We don’t need a person that will run from the city. We need a person that’s going to run the city,” Adams said at Spofford Juvenile Justice in the Bronx, kicking off the final three weeks of campaigning and with early voting starting in just 11 days, on June 12.

“I don’t even know what he’s talking about,” Adams sniffed. “To try to make this into something that is not, that is a distraction.”

Yang, at a campaign event in Bensonhurst minutes later, shot back that Adams, a former state senator, would bring more of the failed status quo if elected.

“Everyone knows that I have not been climbing the greasy ladder of the city’s bureaucracy over the past years,” said Yang.

“Eric Adams is business as usual.”

Yang also tied the former NYPD captain to Mayor Bill de Blasio, who has said positive things about Adams.

“Eric Adams knows that Mayor de Blasio is making calls for him right now trying to keep things the same,” he said.

“New Yorkers know we need something different,” Yang went on. “And think about all the favors Eric had to trade to get to this point, climbing the ladder over these last number of years, scheming about his run thinking like, ‘Oh this is going to be my big chance.’ Eric, your moment has passed.”

Analysis | Puzzled by Dogecoin? The ABCs of a $90 Billion Joke - Washington Post

cucun.indah.link

As interest in cryptocurrency and trading in general spiked this year, Dogecoin was there waiting to be found by retail investors. Sam Bankman-Fried, founder and chief executive officer of the cryptocurrency derivatives exchange FTX, says that after brokerage app Robinhood restricted trading in GameStop Corp. stock at the height of a meme-driven stock-trading frenzy, “hundreds of millions of dollars moved seamlessly” into Dogecoin. The coin got a big boost on April 20, aka 4/20, a day traditionally associated with pot. Dogecoin users decided to celebrate #DogeDay and boost the price to 42¢, or 69¢ -- another, uh, joke number -- or even $1. They succeeded, sort of, with the price soaring to a record 41.9¢ that day, according to CoinGecko.com. It later slipped over 25% from that peak.

Dogecoin Listed On Coinbase Pro In Latest Boost For ‘Joke’ Crypto - Forbes

cucun.indah.link

Topline

After teasing it earlier this month, Coinbase announced Tuesday it has officially listed dogecoin on Coinbase Pro, a major development that exposes the “joke” cryptocurrency to one of the world’s largest bitcoin and crypto exchanges.

Key Facts

Coinbase said in a blog post that it will “immediately” begin accepting inbound transfers of dogecoin to Coinbase Pro in regions where trading is supported.

Trading will then begin at 9 a.m. PT on Thursday if there is enough liquidity, the post explained.

Coinbase will stagger the crypto’s rollout, it said, announcing it will only allow post-only orders and then limit-only orders before moving to full trading.

Per its trading rules, Coinbase said it will only move through each phase of the rollout when its assessment “for a healthy and orderly market” has been met.

“DOGE is not yet available on Coinbase.com or via our Consumer mobile apps,” the blog highlighted, noting there will be a “separate announcement if and when this support is added.”

Crucial Quote

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong teased the platform’s then-impending launch of dogecoin during a May 15 investor call, outlining his intention to “accelerate asset addition into the future.” “There are more and more assets being created in the crypto economy,” Armstrong said. “One of those is doge ... which has been getting a lot of attention recently.”

Key Background

The Coinbase listing—which has generated excitement as a facilitator of more trading activity—is the latest in a series of momentum-inducing boosts for dogecoin, which was launched in 2013 as a jokey alternative to more mainstream cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Tesla billionaire Elon Musk, the self-proclaimed “dogefather,” has repeatedly sent the price of the coin flying through his personal investments and internet promotions. Doge’s value surged by 20% after Armstrong’s comments coincided with an announcement from Elon that he was “working with doge devs to improve system transaction efficiency.”

Big Number

$43.68 billion. That’s dogecoin’s market cap as of Tuesday afternoon. The crypto has seen its price increase nearly 5% over the past 24 hours.
