Frank Gore can't help but laugh at joke stating he was drafted in 1934 - Jets Wire

It’s no secret that Frank Gore is one of the oldest players in the NFL. For some, that’s something to poke fun at.

The 37-year-old found that out earlier this week when a Twitter account, Total Pro Sports, posted an image of Jim Brown during his Syracuse days. The tweet, however, said, “On this date in 1934, Frank Gore became a 49er.”

Gore responded to the tweet, writing “This is just wrong” with a couple of exclamation points and a few laughing emojis.

Jokes aside — Gore was actually drafted by the 49ers in 2005 — what the running back has done to stay in the league as long as he has is truly remarkable. Once Gore plays in his first regular season game with the Jets, he will have played in the most regular season games by a running back at 227. He will also become just the second running back to play 16 NFL seasons, joining Hall of Famer Marcus Allen.

New York signed Gore to a one-year deal worth $1.05 million in the offseason. The Jets are Gore’s fifth team in his 16-year career. He spent the first 10 years of his career in San Francisco before joining the Colts for three seasons. Since then, Gore has had one-year stints with the Dolphins and Bills.

The future Hall of Famer is third on the all-time rushing list with 15,347 yards, trailing only Walter Payton and Emmit Smith.
