Haughton residents may have been noticing a bit of a new hue to the color of their water recently. Town authorities say there is no need to worry.
“We are aware of the concerns of all of our citizens regarding the discoloration of water in the system,” the Haughton Fire Department said Wednesday in a social media post.
“It is mandated that we flow tests all hydrants every five years. All of our personnel are working as fast as possible to complete this task,” the HFD added.
With rapid growth in Haughton, the town has “accumulated a lot of hydrants,” the department noted. However, the testing is expected to be completed within the next 10 days.
“Please understand that this is not only important for insurance ratings, but also to ensure we have adequate water and working hydrants in the event of a fire within the town,” Haughton Fire said. “Please be patient with us and know that we are here to serve you all and provide the best services we possibly can.”
