You knew it as soon as you saw the footage and photos of Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Joe Kelly mocking the Houston Astros, not long after he appeared to throw deliberately at two hitters, Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa.
The faces he made were going to be turned into a GIF and become the first major meme of the 2020 MLB season.
And that’s exactly what happened. The memes are everywhere on Wednesday morning after Kelly’s faces were all over the interwebs (for what it’s worth, he apparently yelled, “Nice swing (expletive)!” which escalated the whole thing).
