Louisiana news anchor trolls Trevor Lawrence engagement - 247Sports

Congratulations is in order for Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who got engaged this week to longtime girlfriend Marissa Mowry at midfield inside Clemson's Memorial Stadium. The photos of Lawrence proposing on one knee have since gone viral and have now become fodder for a Baton Rouge-based sports analyst who trolled All-ACC signal caller this week during his newscast.

"We end tonight with Trevor Lawrence once again giving away a ring on the football field," Matt Trent says to being his playful segment. "Joe Burrow, not available for comment, but don’t worry Trevor — Daddy’s proud of you."

Mowry, who on May 24 shared via Instagram that the two were celebrating their four-year anniversary of dating, published a first photo showing Lawrence kneeling with a ring in his left hand while holding her left hand with his right hand. Wearing a white dress, her right hand covers her face while Lawrence, in a navy blue suit, is down on his right knee.

Lawrence said in February that the loss to Burrow and LSU in the national championship game still haunts him. It wasn't the best performance for a player projected to go No. 1 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft and is the face of college football entering his junior season this fall.

"It was a combination of a lot of things. LSU played well. They did some things that were really good defensively. Also I missed some throws. Missed some throws down the stretch that were really big. Comes down to that, and a lot of little details that you really only know if you're a part of this offense. Overall, not syncing up well offense and defense together. Just wasn't our night."
