Megan Thee Stallion went on Instagram Live in her first video appearance since being shot earlier this month, calling the event “super scary” and “the worst experience of my life.”
The rapper was shot early on the morning of July 12 after she, her friend Kelsey Nicole, and rapper Tory Lanez left a Hollywood Hills party together in a chauffeured SUV, TMZ reported at the time. Allegedly, an argument ensued in which Megan and her friend requested to be let out of the car and, according to TMZ, sources directly connected to the investigation said that Lanez opened fire inside the vehicle, shooting Megan twice in the foot. Police arrested Lanez on gun-possession charges, but he was released later that morning after posting a $35,000 bail, local media reported. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 13.
During her Instagram Live, Megan did not name her shooter but did reveal that, “I was shot in both of my feet, and I had to get surgery to get the shit taken out—get the bullets taken out. And it was super scary. Oh Lord, I didn’t think I was gonna cry. But yeah, I had to get surgery. It was super scary, it was just the worst experience of my life.”
“It’s not funny,” she continued. “It’s nothing to joke about. It was nothing for y’all to start going and making up fake stories about. I didn’t put my hands on nobody. I didn’t deserve to get shot. I didn’t do shit. And thank God that the bullets didn’t touch bones. They didn’t break tendons. I know my momma, my daddy, my granny had to be looking out for me with that one, ’cause where the bullets hit at, it missed everything. Them motherfuckers was in there. It’s not that I was protecting anybody, I just wasn’t ready to speak. That’s not no shit that you immediately get on the internet and start talking about.”
Following the Instagram Live, 50 Cent apologized to Megan for making light of the incident, sharing her video on his own account and writing, “Damn I didn’t think this shit was real, it sounded so crazy @theestallion i’m glad your feeling better and i hope you can accept my apology. I posted a meme that was floating around. I wouldn’t have done that if i knew you was really hurt sorry.”
Last week, Basketball Wives LA star Draya Michele also had to apologize after she said during an interview that she thinks Megan and Lanez “had some sort of Bobby and Whitney love that drove them down this type of road. I’m here for it. I like that. I want you to like me so much you shoot me in the foot too.” Following the statement, Megan tweeted, “Dumb bitch that shit ain’t fucking funny who tf jokes about getting shot,” prompting Michele to quickly apologize. “I truly don’t glorify domestic violence,” she wrote. “I was trying to say just love me deeply. But while trying to be funny, I offended many, including meg. And I’m sorry.”
