STOCKBRIDGE — The Norman Rockwell Museum hosts Finding Funny in Complicated Times, A Pop-Up Virtual Chuckle Every Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m. We guarantee we can make you laugh once a week. (Or at least that we’ll try!) Join a roster of funny men and women every Tuesday evening for a rollicking virtual event. We’ll hear from today’s foremost cartoonists, illustrators, and editors. They’ll share their work, some secrets to their success, views on the role of cartoons in advancing important ideas, and we think there might be jokes.
Aug. 11 Cartooning for Peace: Cartooning for Peace is a network of editorial cartoonists from around the world who use humor to fight for the respect of cultural diversity and freedoms, under the patronage of Kofi Annan, the former UN Secretary General. Join a panel of cartoonists who are part of the network for a discussion of how cartooning can advance human rights.
Aug. 18 Do You Think That’s Funny?: Join leading cartoon editors to learn how they decide what’s funny enough for the pages of The New Yorker and other publications.
Aug. 25 Cartoonists and Picture Books: Join Liza Donnelly, Elwood Smith and other cartoonists who have turned their attention to children’s picture books. Hear how those who specialize in humor for grownups shift their talents into delight for children
Sept. 1 Cartoon Feminists: Join feminist cartoonists who talk about what it means to be a feminist cartoonist and how feminist subjects are portrayed in cartoons. (Yes, it will be funny!)
