Earlier this week, Denny Hamlin, Bubba Wallace and Michael Jordan sent the NASCAR community in a frenzy. Hamlin and Jordan announced that they were setting up a new NASCAR team with Wallace behind the wheel. However, it is worth noting that the announcement was ignited courtesy of a passing joke from Hamlin.
The #11 driver confessed that he was joking about owning a Cup Series team with Michael Jordan. He cheekily said, “Looks like we’re owners together, ha, ha. Congratulations. He said, ‘Fake news, but if you want to make it real news, let me know’.”
Soon, one thing led to another, and a new NASCAR team sprouted on the 2021 grid with Bubba Wallace on the lineup. According to Jordan, the entire incident played out in 10 days and worked perfectly for Wallace. The current Richard Petty driver was actually on the hunt for a seat in 2021 after parting ways with the outfit.
What else is there to know about the Denny Hamlin-Michael Jordan venture?
Only the bare details have broken cover, like the owner and driver names. However, elements like the car number, sponsors, manufacturer and team name have been kept under wraps.
However, some suggest that the team could link up with Toyota and Joe Gibbs Racing. Hamlin confessed to being taken aback at Jordan’s reaction, especially since Michael Jordan told Dale Earnhardt Jr that he was not planning to become a team owner.
However, when Denny Hamlin cracked the joke, Jordan felt that it was the right time to go for it. For his part, Hamlin is confident that his experience will be useful in aiding in his team’s hopeful rise up the ranks.
“I’m a fan of the sport first,” Jordan concluded. “I love sports, I love, love NASCAR. I don’t go into with the idea and concept that I’m trying to change and shape NASCAR, I go in with my passion and I hope that whoever knows Michael Jordan or whoever supports Michael Jordan. Whoever supports NASCAR see this as an opportunity to enjoy the sport.”
Haas driver Romain Grosjean may lose his seat at the end of 2020, after failing to impress in the last couple of years. The American team has been rumored to be on the lookout for new candidates to fill their seats in 2021. Grosjean is aware of the fact that he may no longer be an F1 driver. However, he doesn’t believe his motorsports career is done yet.
Speaking at the driver’s press conference ahead of the Russian Grand Prix, Grosjean said, “Obviously, there aren’t many seats left in Formula 1, and there are many candidates. So I do understand the point of view from Haas.
“It totally makes sense they’re not in a rush. But I don’t think I’m in a rush either. There are options elsewhere as well, which can be interesting.”
While Grosjean wouldn’t mind racing in other series, he knows the charm that F1 holds.
He said, “Obviously, Formula 1 is Formula 1. Coming from Mugello, driving those cars in Mugello, you’re like yeah, you know what, it’s absolutely unique what I’m driving.
“Formula 1 is very appealing in that aspect. lt will take some time.
“We’re still early in the year, still have got many races to go, so on my side, not too much in a rush.”
Grosjean’s spot at Haas is under threat by the likes of Sergio Perez as well as the up-and-coming talents, namely, Robert Schwartzman, Callum Ilott, and Mick Schumacher. Even Nico Hulkenberg may be under consideration.
Romain has only managed to get 8 points in the last 30 races. Moreover, his questionable defending at Silverstone only invited more criticism. It certainly seems like he will face the ax.
Romain Grosjean lists alternative options that interest him
Grosjean said his preference would be to “most likely to stay in Europe.”
He isn’t interested in moving to America as he said, “Obviously IndyCar is a beautiful championship. But I’m not really tempted by the oval. They even scare me, so I don’t really want to do ovals.
“But I think, Hypercar at the Le Mans 24 Hours and the World Endurance Championship can be nice. Formula E is definitely an option. There are some good drivers and teams there.”
Chances that he gets an F1 seat for 2021 are pretty slim. Nevertheless, Grosjean would like to give his best and perhaps alter people’s opinion or, more importantly, Haas’ decision.
Roman Reigns took a four-month sabbatical from on-screen action because of the worldwide pandemic. Consequently, Strowman replaced him at the last minute at WrestleMania 36 and became the new Universal Champion.
Reigns made a triumphant return at SummerSlam and claimed the title “he never lost” after defeating The Fiend at PayBack. But why did he chose to come back while the reason he left still persisted?
In the latest edition of Corey Graves’ After the Bell Podcast (h/t Sportskeeda), Roman Reigns revealed why he thought about retiring, along with other details of his return. The Tribal Chief says his family is the reason he left.
“The most defined thought I had was that I made many sacrifices on behalf of my family and this is one area I wasn’t going to make that sacrifice. I would sacrifice my career, I’ll sacrifice the performance, I would sacrifice the audience if I had to. To protect my family, I’d quit. I will hang up my boots,” the Big Dog revealed.
He further said that he has achieved almost everything there is to achieve in the industry, so he does not fear going out of business anymore.
“I’ve done everything there is to in this business within sports entertainment, within professional wrestling. There isn’t an accolade, there isn’t a moment that I haven’t had. Whether it was a WrestleMania moment or a little house show, I’ve experienced everything there is to experience. So, for me, it was about putting my family first. Right there, if I had to retire and if that was what was going to be asked of me, I was willing to do it.”

Roman Reigns credits WWE’s safety measures for his swift return
After a couple of months, WWE assured Roman of his safety. As a result, Reigns made the big decision. He said,
“I had to wait till we were in a place of a better understanding of the process, knowing exactly what this virus has done and how it has affected everybody. Now, it’s far more comfortable, the way WWE has taken care of me to make me feel safe, make my family feel safe, make my wife feel safe that I’m going out and coming back in. That’s been huge and critical to getting me back in the ring.”
Roman Reigns is known for being a family man. It was the safety of his family that made him quit WrestleMania, and he came back only after WWE gained his trust back.
Thankfully, Reigns overturned his decision to retire. He came back as a heel and now has Paul Heyman by his side. Next, he will defend his Universal Title against his own blood as he faces his cousin Jey Uso at the upcoming Clash of Champions 2020.
