Jennifer Aniston is not amused by Kanye West's attempt to run for president. Ahead of the 2020 election, the actress is using her social media platform to get out the vote for Joe Biden while actively discouraging her fans from throwing their support behind the rapper's campaign, even in jest.
On Saturday, Aniston shared a series of photos on her Instagram account showing her dropping off her early-voting ballot at a designated ballot box at the West Hollywood library. “#IVOTED for @joebiden and @kamalaharris,” she wrote in the caption of the post. “I dropped my ballot off, and I did it early. I voted for them because right now this country is more divided than ever. Right now, a few men in power are deciding what women can and can’t do with their own bodies. Our current President has decided that racism is a non-issue. He has repeatedly and publicly ignored science…. too many people have died.”
She continued, “I urge you to really consider who is going to be most affected by this election if we stay on the track we’re on right now... your daughters, the LGBTQ+ community, our Black brothers and sisters, the elderly with health conditions, and your future kids and grandkids (who will be tasked with saving a planet that our leadership refuses to believe is hurting). This whole thing isn’t about one candidate or one single issue, it’s about the future of this country and of the world. Vote for equal human rights, for love, and for decency.”
While the actress isn't typically so outspoken about her political affiliations, she has long been a democratic supporter donating $28,500 in 2008 to help Barack Obama and other Democrats get elected and, in 2016, giving $33,400 to the Hillary Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and several state Democratic parties.
In a post-script to the post, the actress added, “It’s not funny to vote for Kanye. I don’t know how else to say it. Please be responsible.” Whether or not Aniston's repudiation of West's candidacy will affect those fake Kentucky poll numbers the rapper's been sharing still remains to be seen.
