The Lyons Township High School Theatre Board is hosting its first play of the year – virtually. A series of six comedic one act plays, Bring on the Laughs: A Night of Funny One Acts is scheduled to launch Thursday, October 22, at 7pm and is available via the following link: https://youtu.be/n9a1KlSx114
LT Director Kristen Manthei said, "When choosing a play, I knew I had to pick something with a small cast due to COVID limitations. I decided to do one acts because they not only have small casts, but typically they have minimal set and design requirements."
The cast rehearsed for nearly a month over Zoom, which was new and definitely posed unique challenges. The cast made quick progress, rehearsed for one week in a classroom with masks, and then filmed all of the scenes on the stage in one night.
"This play is a great example of what happens when people come together to create something, and when we are adaptable. The students worked so hard during the very short rehearsal period and collaborated despite internet freezing, masks, and social distancing. We are very proud of what we created," Manthei added.
