Baker Mayfield isn’t the only quarterback making “The Office” jokes.
While Mayfield dropped one of Dwight Schrute’s lines in his postgame press conference, he did not seem to catch the attention the actor who played Dwight the way Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen did.
Following Allen’s 375-yard, four touchdown performance in a 34-24 win over the Niners Sunday night, which garnered him AFC Player of the Week honors, “The Office” star tweeted out that Allen was his “second favorite quarterback.”
A day later, Allen responded with a reference to a long-running joke in the sitcom: “Assistant favorite Qb, or assistant to your favorite Qb?”
We are not exactly sure who Wilson’s No. 1 quarterback is, although the actor grew up in the Seattle area and is a Seahawks fan, so it is a pretty safe bet to assume that Russell Wilson takes the honors there.
But Allen is a strong No. 2 and is having himself a career year as the Bills are firmly atop the AFC East.
Where Mayfield falls in these rankings is anyone’s guess. But if the Dwight quote after a franchise-record day for the cannot propel him ahead of Allen, who knows what Mayfield will have to do to get the coveted assistant to Rainn Wilson’s favorite QB position.
