Stimulus brings ray of hope | Editorial, Dec. 22
Serve and protect us, huh?
$600 stimulus checks are a complete joke, especially since there was only one other check previously. Republicans need to get their head on right and recognize that this country is struggling. We should have had at least $600 checks every month this year. How is it that the Pentagon can spend $2 billion a day, and other countries have provided citizens with up to 80 percent of their salary for support, but this country can’t find any sort of empathy for the situation that this administration has completely exacerbated to help us out more than $600?
Rep. Gus Bilirakis and Sens. Marco Rubio and Rick Scott should be ashamed that this is the deal that was reached. Of course, Republicans would try to use corporate legal liability as a negotiation point to lessen stimulus help to the people that actually need it. For the sake of this country, Georgia better flip blue so we can actually see some better progress versus what is happening now.
I wonder how my elected officials even sleep at night? They need to grow a conscience and stand up for the people they swore to help serve and protect.

Six hours? Not enough
President Donald Trump should veto this bill. When a more than 5,000-page bill is presented to Congress with six hours to review, due diligence is impossible and voting on such legislation in this fashion should disqualify any member from Congress. It is a joke, it is criminal, it is embarrassing. This is the evolution of how our government operates and it is pure treason. I applaud the members of Congress brave enough to vote against it. We the people need to hold our government accountable for the recklessness performed on both sides of the aisle.

Not the atta boy you want
It was interesting to read that the Hillsborough County Commission has failed to follow through with the recommended impact fee increase. Commissioner Kimberly Overman, Chair Pat Kemp and Commissioner Mariella Smith seem to be the only commissioners who are hearing the citizens.
Isn’t it nice when the county commission gets an atta boy from the vice president of the Tampa Bay Builders Association?

Expanding stand your ground law would thwart justice | Dec. 10
You’re a criminal when...
If you want to protest, then do so legally. We have laws to protect you and other members of the public. Your desire to protest does not upstage my right to safely and legally conduct business or travel on roads. You become a criminal when you ignore and break laws and deny and detain people and cause property destruction.
