The Cleveland Browns did it. Not only did they finally make the playoffs and find a way to move on to the divisional round, but they have finally put all the jokes made about them to bed.
On the daily Locked On Browns podcast, Jeff Lloyd started the show with energy fueled by the knowledge that the Browns are no longer on the receiving end of many jokes and now find themselves as relevant contenders throughout the NFL.
Lloyd: We have talked, especially about this franchise, the Pittsburgh Steelers. We have talked about never making anyone believe differently. The Browns drove the stake through the heart. This team beat them last week under insinuating circumstances. In a game like this, you saw Ben Roethlisberger sitting on that bench and maybe he was wondering, is this maybe it. Yes, he has $41 million due to him next year. But is him coming back the best thing for this franchise? That is my biggest takeaway from this playoff win. The players, Baker, the running game getting going again. Players on defense being active. The DNA of this Browns franchise, the jokes, everything that has gone on for so long, this is officially dead. With zero, almost zero practice time this week, having zero idea of who is actually going to be able to play. Michael Dunn, great to meet you big guy because you had yourself a hell of a day. This franchise, this is it. The jokes of the past, they stopped today. The Browns are here, and they are going to be a legitimate contender for the foreseeable future.
