A George Floyd-themed dance proposal is stirring controversy in Nevada and elsewhere.
A female student at Foothill High School in Henderson, Nevada, asked her date to the Sadies Hawkins dance with a sign that read: "If you went to SADIES w/me it would take my BREATH away!" The poster also included Floyd's name and a drawing of him, per Las Vegas-Review Journal's Aleksandra Appleton.

The photograph has sparked outrage across social media, with people finding the invitation racist and noting Floyd's death was not something to joke about.
Foothill High School officials and members of the local school district have announced an investigation into the incident.
A joint statement posted to the school's website reads "Foothill and CCSD will not tolerate racially insensitive behaviors that contradict an inclusive community and impact the school culture of our students."
A similar incident occurred earlier this month when members of the Los Angeles police department were alleged to have circulated a Valentine's Day image of Floyd with the caption "You take my breath away" among their ranks, per the Daily Mail's Harriet Alexander.
LAPD has launched an internal investigation into the matter, with Chief Michael Moore stating that "people will feel my wrath" if it's confirmed his officers were circulating the image.
