Jorgy Cruz Interview for his film, Funny Pains.

While working in the office or on various projects around the house, I love to have comedy specials. The various streaming platforms often offer a variety of comedians from all walks of life. Each of them offering a different perspective on what is funny with various styles of storytelling. Often times we only think about the jokes the comedians tell and not the person behind the microphone. Have you ever thought about the struggles comedians go through? Or the challenges that they face as they try to make people laugh with jokes that may offend some people?

Funny Pains is an acclaimed documentary that offers us a look behind the curtain into the life of a comedian. This is available now to stream for free on TUBI. It follows comedian Wendi Starling. Along with her it also features commentary from other comedians like Nikki Glaser, Jim Norton, Bonnie McFarlane, Andrew Shultz, Yamaneika Saunders, Krystyna Hutchinson, Rich Vos, and Mehran Khaghani.

Here is the synopsis for Funny Pains:
“Funny Pains” follows stand-up comedian Wendi Starling, whose career, working process, and life are closely examined in the film, as she navigates one of the entertainment’s toughest, most competitive professions – all during the height of the #MeToo movement, feminism, and the infiltration of stand-up comedy by the politically correct. Above all else, the film delves into serious issues of sexual assault and mental health, with Starling revealing her not-so-private personal traumas.

LRM Online had the opportunity to talk with the filmmaker behind Funny Pains, Jorgy Cruz. During this interview, he talks about his love for stand-up comedy and how making this documentary has affected his view on comedians. He also talks about the journey of following Wendi and the things that he learned from her.  It’s a fantastic film that will give you a new perspective and respect for your favorite comedians. You can check it out down below!

Funny Pains is available now for free on TUBI.
