If you are unable to catch one of comedian and actor George Lopez’s live shows, at least you can enjoy his tacos.
The delivery-only taqueria George Lopez Tacos has arrived in Albuquerque. Fans of Lopez and tacos can order through several platforms, including Doordash, Uber Eats, Grubhub and Postmates.
Lopez teamed up with virtual restaurant leader Nextbite to take his tacos to cities across the country, including Albuquerque, Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York City, Miami, San Francisco and Seattle. More information on the tacos can be found at lopeztacos.com.
The menu features street taco combos, family packs and sides such as chips and guacamole, chips and salsa, and churro bites. Beverages include Mexican Coca-Cola and Jarritos.
Customers can choose from two styles of tacos. Both options include a choice of slow-cooked, shredded pork carnitas, chicken tinga or beef ranchero verde served with masa corn tortillas and lime wedges. Where they vary is the additions included to top the tacos. One choice includes fresh diced onion and cilantro, salsa verde, pickled onions and roasted jalapeños. The other option includes the above as well as avocado crema and fire roasted peppers and onions. There is also a combo option that includes chips and salsa roja and a Mexican Coca-Cola. La Gran Fiesta and La Gran Reunión are family style combos that serve four people or eight people.
“It’s really more of a fun, build your own experience where we serve basically, like, a big pile meat, a stack of tortillas and the sauces on the side,” said Alex Canter, CEO and founder of Nextbite. “And it arrives to assemble that way you get to have this hands on experience. It’s kind of like a build your own, whatever salsas you want, onion, cilantro. And it’s a really exciting menu offering really authentic Mexican-style tacos.”
Lopez worked with a Nextbite chef to develop the recipes and concept for the taqueria.
“I’m excited for people across the country to have the chance to taste my favorite recipes delivered directly to their door,” he says in the news release. “I really love that Nextbite is helping small businesses like local family owned restaurants bring in more revenue and thrive by fulfilling the orders for George Lopez Tacos.”
Nextbite teams up with local restaurants for food preparation. In Albuquerque, it has partnered with ABQ Burrito and Burger. Nextbite helps brick-and-mortar restaurants to enter a delivery-only business. It offers a complete virtual restaurant solution for existing restaurants and kitchens that pairs an ordering and delivery management solution with a selection of on-trend, delivery-only brands, according to the news release.
“In a time where restaurants are still facing many COVID-related challenges, restaurant partners welcome the collaboration and opportunity to add these new George Lopez delivery-only tacos, for another source of revenue using their existing restaurant capacity and labor,” Canter says in the news release.
